Padrino de la Casa

Blessing the door.

Miguel, our photographer, has a beautiful piece of property behind Hotel El Faro and steps from the beach. He has been working on it for the last 3 years, and every year there is remarkable progress. 3 stories high, it has a view of the water, and more importantly the point at El Faro. It is almost finished and the family is close to moving in. I was slightly shocked when he asked me to be the Godfather of the house. It was truly an honor to think that he respected me enough to choose me for this privilege. In the ceremony, a priest came to the house, and blessed it. He started with the front door. A champagne bottle was strung between the doorway, that as Godfather, I had to break. I will always remember this moment as a special one in my life.

Gracias for the honor Miguel.

Los Hermanos

I have known Carlos and Edgar for the past 10 years. It is always a blast to see them again, as we recall all the good times from the previous years. Carlos works at the hotel, and Edgar his brother is our go to Moto Taxi driver. I can always count on a good laugh with them both. They both have big hearts and always go out of their way for us. 10 years have passed fast, and we are all getting older. I may only see them once a year, but when I do it is like time has stood still for our friendship. My friends and I are lucky to have two great guys we can call friends.

Edgar, reliving the famous roll over of 2010
Carlos, getting ready for the windsurfing competition.

Maquenzie.

L to R: Junior, Victor, Gloria, Sol Manuela, Felipe, and my buddy Maquenzie.

If you look on the homepage of this blog, you will see a picture of my brother, myself, and Maquenzie from way back in 2005. We were all a little younger, thinner, and probably better looking. Of all my friends in Pacasmayo, I have know Maquenzie the longest. His daughter Sol Manuela is my god daughter. I was chosen by Maquenzie to be the first one to cut her hair way back in 2012 when she was just a year old. I am so proud of her and her brothers. I have always told them that education is the great equalizer, and to work hard, and study. I am proud to say, that they have listened. Victor is off to the university. Junior is almost done with secondary school, and Sol Manuela is doing great in school. Every year they invite me to their house, and every year I am amazed how big they are all getting. It is a treat to see them each year.
