Mancora 15

If you like the beach scene, hopping night life, and crowded surf, Mancora is for you.    It was super hot by 10 AM, and by 2 PM it was almost too much to bear.   Going into the ocean, just to cool off was a must.   In fact the water temperature was warmer than the air during the early morning.  The amount of life was also amazing.   Swarms of dragon flies that had to number in the thousands.   Fish jumping all around you while surfing.   Amazing diversity and numbers of birds.   Mancora, while nice, was just too touristy for me.   Tourists from all over the world were there.   There is also a lot of vendors selling tourist items near and on the beach.  I am looking for authentic Peru, and Mancora was not that.  Too touristy, too much of a party atmosphere, and too many people of questionable character hanging around.

Our hotel was overlooking the point, and was only a few steps from the surf break.  The surf sure had potential.  I got a lot of waves all the way to the beach.   The only issue besides the crowd, was how small it was.   Most of the time we were there, it was only knee to waist high waves.   I am sure that during a big swell, it probably gets real good.
