Jequetepeque-Dos Cabezas-Boca del Rio

Jequetepeque

The crew at the entrance of Jequetepeque

Jequetepeque is a small town north of Pacasmayo.   It is located in a valley, with a river that runs through it.  Like every Peruvian town, there is a central square.  It has a really interesting statue, with what looks like a indian smoking a pipe.

Dos Cabezas

Cerro de dos cabezas

Dos Cabezas is a man made mountain that served as a look out point.    Our guide Wilmar, said it was made by the Inca.   From far away, it just looks like 2 hills, however when you get close you can see all the bricks stacked on top of each other.   There were also 2 small entrances that looked like caves.   Wilmar said that the lookouts would live inside.   Driving up, there was a sign that said it was a historical monument.   There was no one there, and we could walk on it.   If it was in the states, there would be no way you could walk on it.

Boca del Rio

The mouth of the river, emptied into the ocean.   Driving to it, you passed a small abandoned ghost town.   It looked straight out of a western movie.  I was waiting for John Wayne, and a movie crew to jump out.   There was alot of sand, and the van almost got stuck.
