If you follow my blog, you know one of my favorite spots in Lima is Punta Rocas. It is about an hour drive from Miraflores, but consistently has surf. If it is flat here, it is flat everywhere. Punta Rocas is changing. Above it used to be some dirt lots, but the Government is now putting in a pool for the Pan American games which will be in Lima in July. The wave is the same. Super powerful waves that toss you like a rag doll. In fact paddling out, one wave I tried to duck dive under pushed my board and it hit me in the face. No blood, but a fat lip, sore cheek bone, and a black eye. I almost called it right there, before I caught a wave, and headed in. But my better judgement, told me “You are not bleeding, get out there and catch some waves” I am glad I did. I love the power when you are riding the wave, and the big fat wall in front of you. Too much fun. It was pretty big out there, so I got some really high quality rights, in the land of the lefts.
