Chicama 17

Missed the contest, but still got the waves!

The wave keeps a rollin

Every year we stay in Pacasmayo, watch the surf report, find the biggest day, then head to Chicama.   Chicama needs some swell to work.   So waiting for the biggest day has paid off as a strategy.   This year was no different, we made our run on the biggest day, and scored some incredible waves.    One of my longest ones was a knee high peeler.   I saw it coming, no one was on it, so I caught it.   Small but fun.   Not to say that all the waves were small.   It was definitely shoulder high with some head high sets.   This wave is much different that Pacasmayo, just peeling along.   Long rides, legs hurting, same old Peru waves story.   It was a little crowded, as you would expect a world class wave to be, but I still got some amazing waves.  Not my longest waves of the trip, but amazing all the same.  I guess it is all relative, if I was at home, it would of been some of the longest waves of my life.  However when you are in Peru, they were just long, but not record breaking long.   According to my Trace, my longest wave was 445 yards.  Over a quarter mile!!
