Best Chicama session in my 5 years of surfing Peru
Chicama. Catching this place going off is like a gift from God. It was amazing. It is funny, when we were in Pacasmayo, the locals were telling me that Chicama was a “Legend” but that Pacasmayo is more consistent, longer waves, and better. I would have to agree for 95% of the time. However, Chicama is a legend for a reason. This was by far my best Chicama session ever. While most of the crowd was down at 1st point, (it was a little bigger there) I was up at 3rd point by myself. I had 2 waves that I was able to ride almost all the way to 1st point. Nothing like a ride so long that your legs begin to hurt, and a wave that is just peeling perfectly in front of you. Ride the wave, walk up the point, and catch another. Problem was I got no rest. Since I was by myself at 3rd point, as soon as I got out in the water, I would catch another wave, and repeat the process. Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got out of the water. I was having so much fun, walking up the point, I began to cry with joy. Thank you God for this amazing session.
Just imagine one wave from the point at the top to the bottom right hand corner. Looks small, but once you are off the cliff, and in the water, it was bigger.
