Puemape 19

The real local, coming in with his catch at Puemape.

In 2017, Puemape was not the same after the rains had messed with the bottom. 2018 with my torn tendon, I could not surf. This year, I finally got the Puemape magic of years past. Catch the right wave, and you had a 3 football field long wave. Fast section, into a slow down, then back to screaming along the next section. Best part, it was just me and my friends, with one Danish guy. One day, two van loads of Brazilians showed up, but we were already getting out of the water, by the time they were getting in. There is something about this place that makes it super special. If I could put my finger on it, I would say it is partially the wave, partially the ghost town feel of the town, and partially the lack of a crowed. Magical is still the best word to describe it. We tended to surf here more than El Faro, probably because we had it to ourselves.
