Puemape

Puemape

Puemape is about 30 minutes from Pacasmayo.  Off the main highway, you take a dirt road.  The hills are amazing, with sandy slopes.  They look perfect for riding down the hill on a sand board or snowboard.

Puemape is a fishing village, that for the most part looks abandoned.  It is a really beautiful location.   The point is a left point.   The surf was small on the day we were there, but it looked like it had great potential.  My brother and I went out.  It was waist high, but we still got some good ones.

There are many moto taxi’s that transport people.   One of the locals was a moto taxi driver.  (The guy in the yellow shirt)  He  told me that when it gets big, there is another wave that breaks on the left of the tip of the point.   He also asked if I had any surfwax, which I was happy to give him.

Most of the fishermen in the village did not have boats.  The used “Cabballitos de Tortora”  which were essentially reed boats.   They have been using them since the time of the Inca.  Here are two drying out in preparation for the next morning.
