Feeling the Stoke!!

They say only a surfer knows the feeling.  I might have the proof.  I was surfing in Peru when I had the most amazing experience.  I had just caught a head high wave, and was paddling back out.  Over the horizon I could see a set, and increased my stroke.  As I watched the set begin to break, I could see two dolphins surfing the wave.  First one, then the other jumped out in front of the wave, and were fully airborne.  Instinctively I let out a loud hoot.  As I kept paddling out, one of the dolphins swam directly under me, literally inches from my finger tips.  He was so large, and so close, that it made me a little nervous.  I kept paddling, and he did it again, just as close as the first time.  For good measure, he circled around again, and once more swan right under me.  Once I could expect.  Twice might be coincidence, but three times?  He was definitely trying to tell me something.  It might be that this was his spot, and he was the local.  Or it might be that he too was feeling the stoke we all get from surfing.  I live to think it was the latter.
